Robert H. Barlow was the editor of The New York Times Book Review (1991-1995). He was educated at Yale University, the University of Virginia, and the Columbia School of Journalism. He is a member of the National Magazine Association and a trustee of the Library of Congress
He has been a visiting scholar at Princeton, Stanford, and Georgetown Universities, and a visiting professor at City College of New York. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the W.A. Harms Foundation in Washington, D.C., and is a national lecturer in journalism for the Newspaper Foundation in Washington D.C.
